Garden year checklist

Spring (March to May)

• Tidy up beds, cut back old perennials
• Scarify, overseed and fertilise the lawnonce the ground has dried out
• Prune shrubs and roses
• New planting
• Clean garden paths and patio

Summer (June to August)

• Mow the lawn regularlyabout once a week during the main growing season
• Trim hedges into shapegently, and watch out for nests
• Water during dry spells
• Remove weeds from beds and joints

Autumn (September to November)

• Collect leaves
• Plant perennials, shrubs and trees
• Mow the lawn one last time
• Sign the winter service contractby mid-October
• Drain outdoor water pipes

Winter (December to February)

• Prune fruit trees and shrubson frost-free days
• Remember your snow clearing and gritting obligations
• Plan the garden for next year
