Tree and shrub care
Healthy trees need the right cut at the right time. We care for trees and shrubs in gardens and residential complexes and clarify beforehand what is permitted.
Trees shape a garden or residential complex for decades. A wrong cut can harm a tree for years. That is why we prune with restraint and professionally: removing deadwood, creating clearance and thinning the crown where necessary.
As the owner, you have a legal duty of care (Verkehrssicherungspflicht) for the trees on your property. We inspect your trees and let you know if we notice anything, such as rotten branches above a path.
What’s included
- Crown maintenance and thinning
- Deadwood removal
- Clearance above paths and parking spaces
- Cutting back large shrubs
- Fruit tree pruning

Good to know
Many towns have a tree protection bylaw (Baumschutzsatzung). It specifies the trunk girth from which a tree is protected and felling requires a permit. In addition, section 39 (5) of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (§ 39 Abs. 5 BNatSchG) prohibits cutting back hedges, bushes and other woody plants heavily or coppicing them from 1 March to 30 September. The law exempts trees on land used as gardens; general species protection, however, applies all year round. Gentle maintenance pruning is permitted.
Before any felling, we clarify with you whether a permit is needed. The application is usually made by the owner; we help with the details.
What the cost depends on
- Size and condition of the tree
- Type of work: maintenance pruning, cutting back or felling
- Access and equipment needed, e.g. an aerial work platform
- Protecting paths, buildings or cables
- Amount and disposal of cuttings

Can I simply have my tree felled?
That depends on your town and on the tree. Many towns protect trees above a certain trunk girth. Species protection, for example for nesting birds, also applies all year round, and for many woody plants the protection period from 1 March to 30 September. We clarify this with you before felling.
When is the best time to prune a tree?
That depends on the species and the aim. Many maintenance cuts are best done in late winter or in summer. We will recommend the right time.
